After getting the results for the GRFP, April 4th, the paperwork for me to go to MSU went through in record time, and I had signed the offer of admission April 8th. Going from not knowing my future plans to having a set 5-year plan in less than a week was a bit of a shock. A week later I was on the plane to go visit MSU, KBS, my advisor, the lab, and surrounding cities. I loved it! I was able to sit in a class, talk to a bunch of current grad students and professors, and see where I will be living come fall semester. There wasn't a single thing that I didn't like. The wonderful people aside, I cannot wait to just be in nature and be surrounded by a nature loving community.

(I Definitely will be making an insect version)
Shortly after my MSU visit, I was on the plane again to the United Kingdom for three weeks. As a trip to see my camp friends that I had not seen in five years, I was able to travel all over. I started in Inverness, Scotland (and all around it) for a week, down to Edinburgh for a few days, then all the way down to Exeter, England, and finally up a little to London. I wasn't able to find any fossils small enough to pack (just a bunch of rocks), but I have come back with a Jaffa Cake and Iron Bru (1901) addiction. It was great to see my friends finally, and fun to see all the sights that have been stuck in movies my whole life. Definitely looking into potential connections with museums over there for specimen use, or even an internship.

Now that I am back home, I have been scrambling to pack up and sell lots of my junk and furniture for the move to MSU at the end of summer. It all has to be packed up now because I'll be working at a camp this summer. I'll be leaving for camp in two weeks, then I start for the drive to Michigan the day after I get home from camp in July. I've also been rushing to complete my training requirements to run a camp kitchen on my own. 😬 It should be really fun though! I'm excited for some time to mess around in the forest before starting school again. But also, I am SO excited for camp to pass so I can start school again!
